SATURDAYS (6 Feb – 3 Dec 2016)
SATURDAY YOUTH (UNDER-16) TRAINING
Time: 09.00 – 10.00
Youth (Under-16) Training – Red & Black Groups Training and coaching on a closed road circuit. For experienced youth riders in the club’s “Race” (black group) and “Advanced” (red group) classifications only. No newcomers. Session cost £2.50
Is this session for me? Saturday morning sessions are for children and youths under-16. The minimum requirements for newcomers is that children must be able to ride un-aided, without stabilisers, and be able to competently set off, corner and brake. We have some very young riders, but the average age for newcomers is up to 6 years old.
Riders are assessed according to ability and maturity and classified into one of four groups: WHITE (youngest and least experienced); YELLOW (our biggest group, usually 7-10 year olds with some experience); RED (usually 10 years plus and strong enough to ride laps in a group and skilled enough to race); BLACK (our older and more able children, most of whom race regularly and have high levels of skill and fitness)
These sessions will teach children the basic techniques to help them improve their cycling in a safe environment. First time riders should always start with the 11am session so we can assess their ability.
Note To Parents – Saturday Go-Ride Sessions:
Your Safety: Please do not be offended if a coach asks you to watch from the safety of the car park area, this is for the safety of riders and spectators, and to ensure our insurance is valid.
Is Your Child Ready? Parents and carers are responsible for ensuring their child is wearing a bike helmet and gloves at all session and and suitable clothing geared to the weather. They should also have a drink and a bicycle that is in good working order. Coaches reserve the right to not allow children to ride if these basics are not met. Most parents and carers stay to watch the sessions, but if you leave for some of the session, please inform us first and be prompt in collecting your child.
Child Safety: It is important that the club is informed of any medical conditions, recent injuries or allergies that may be relevant should your child fall ill or be involved in an accident. Before you child’s first ride we require you complete a parental consent and data protection form. If you would like to talk about this, please speak to one of the coaching team.
