WOMEN’S SOCIAL RIDES

To help grow our female membership we are trialling two women-only sessions at the track. Use the time to get some flat miles done, practise group riding skills or go round the cones for some cornering practise. Do a little or a lot, it’s up to you. Hot drinks in clubhouse post-ride. Any cake based donations will be gratefully received. There will be the usual charge of £2.50 to cover track hire.

Saturday 7th October 1.30pm-3.00pm
Saturday 4th November 1.30pm-3.00pm

POWER YOGA

We have arranged some cyclist-specific core strength and flexibility classes starting Wednesday 18th October, 6.15pm at HT Fitness, 6a & 6b Commercial Mills, Oldham Road, Ripponden. Please book a place with Corinne on 07960425303 or via the Pedalsport Facebook page. Sessions are £6 and will run throughout winter. For youth/adult Pedalsport members only.

GO-RIDE

Go-Ride is cancelled on Saturday 28th October due to half-term holidays. All other sessions in September, October and November are on as usual. As the weather gets cooler (and maybe wetter!), please ensure riders are suitably dressed with gloves and a coat being the most important items. We rarely cancel sessions, unless the rain is persistently heavy for the whole session or it is very cold and wet. Always keep an eye on our Facebook page where last minute changes will be published.

DOGS

We have asked by Brooksbank School to remind everyone that dogs are not allowed onto the grassed areas around the track. Apologies to our canine supporters.

Under-12 Cyclo-Cross – Begins 22 August

UNDER-12 CYCLO-CROSS SESSIONS – BEGINNING 22 AUGUST
Under 12 cyclo-cross training returns on Tuesday 22nd August, on the grass area at Brooksbank circuit. Riders should be prepared to ride on the grass, which will turn to mud as the season progresses, with cyclo-cross or mountain bike, gloves and suitable clothing. Lights (front and rear) will also be required as the days get shorter. The session is designed to build riders’ fitness and skills off road using a simulated cyclo-cross course. It is hard work and riders need to be ready to work hard and listen to the coaches! Riders are eligible based on which Saturday Go-Ride group they are in:

• 9am Race or Advanced group – open invitation to all riders

• 10am Intermediate “top” group (normally led by Wingy) – open invitation to all riders

• 10am Intermediate “bottom” group – only riders regularly participating in Yorkshire cyclo-cross races (please discuss with Keith or Wingy before turning up)

If unsure about eligibility please ask BEFORE attending – these sessions can be demanding and riders’ safety and enjoyment is the most important thing!

Session run from 7-8pm, cost is £2.50 as normal. To ensure sessions can run, can we ask parents of riders please help to set up and pack away the equipment for each session, to reduce the burden on the coaches – this also allows the coaches to spend more time coaching riders!!
