Otley Cyclo-Cross, 14/5/2014 – Report & Results
Pedalsport’s riders followed up their great start to the summer Yorkshire ‘Cross series two weeks ago with more success at round two in Otley.
With national champion Euan Cameron on the start line, things were tougher than previously in the under-14 race, but although Euan took the win, Pedalsport’s Matt Taylor and Jenson Young managed to put on the race of the night, with Matt claiming second from his team-mate by a whisker, with Eddie Townend claiming fourth.
Lucy Whearty was second under-14 girl behind Lucy Horrocks, whilst Oliver Walton and Olivia Ingham repeated their round one wins in the Under-12 category. Backing up Oliver’s ride, Marcus Hiley was the second under-12 boy.
Holly Deavin was the winner of the Under-10 girls category, ahead of Astrid Hiley, whilst Holly’s brother Dan was the second under-8 boy, Toby Kershaw was third in the under-10 boys and Emilia Walton third in the under-8 girls.
In the over-14 race, Rob Scott’s eighth place was perhaps the outstanding ride of the night, with the under-16 rider mixing it with the leaders in the early laps. Tim Kershaw also had a notable ride, taking 17th in a class field.
Meanwhile, Justin Morgan was second Vet-50 and Matt Wilson, in only his second ‘Cross race was a highly impressive 34th.
